Solving the Problem
Looking into an opportunity that would help many students, myself included, I would sell a calendar app that takes the information from your class syllabus to input assignment due dates as well as class readings and exams. The users would only need to specify how long their semester is and when class time is then an interactive calendar would be generated. Having this app downloaded onto the student's phone they would also be able to input other activities that they would normally mark onto their calendars. By showing all their class times, assignment due dates, and any event they intend to go to students would have a better understanding of how they need to manage their time instead of cramming at the last minute. Or if students prefer to cram last minute, they would know when the last minute is. Students will be able to set reminders for each class's homework and go through and edit unique reminders for those assignments that might take a little longer to complete.

Hi! This is a great idea for an app. Do you have any idea how much you would want it to cost? I know at least for myself that I wouldn't want to pay more than $1.99 (hopefully lol). I love the feature of putting class times, due dates, and events all in one place. Office hours could even be included in this, and general class info so you don't have to go into the syllabus whenever you need to know a small piece of information. Good job!
ReplyDeleteHey Ethan!
ReplyDeleteI have actually been looking for an app that does exactly that! I like that idea and would download that app. I used to use the apple calendar on my phone, but I didn't like the layout of it. I was also not fond of the fact that you couldn't see events or assignments that were due at the same time and day very easily. Recently, I tried using the google calendar, but there are still some aspects I don't like about it. I think you did a great job and this opportunity should be taken.

Ethan,
ReplyDeleteWhile I personally like your idea, I cannot help think what Dr. Pryor would say. An app is such a difficult business to profit off of. They are costly to create, overall unprofitable, and difficult to market. However, if you can master all three of those facts, I think there is a solid idea there.
You articulated your point well and added relevant details in this post. It is cohesive and understandable. You did a good job with it.
